A computer scientist interviewed one of the project managers and one of the "advisers". The interviews were taped and transcribed. Paper documents. We collected as much paper material as possible. Besides the requirement specification, the most important written material is the manuals that were placed at the workstations. We added some of the manuals for older systems for comparison.

Therapy works because speaking our mind changes it. I am not sure whether the mathematics of catastrophe theory actually turns out to be the best formalism for this type of theory. We need to investigate the properties of other types of dynamic systems, for example those studied by chaos theory, and to do empirical studies of the dynamics of communication in order to make a motivated choice. Returning to computer semiotics, we now take this general conception of signs and semiosis and use it in the specific case of computer systems.
